WHERE ARE WE COMING FROM
Hailing from a family with deep roots in German automotive businesses, Steffen Rilli started his automotive career at the age of 16 as an automotive-mechatronic apprentice. HIs career officially started at the height of the touring car racing class, becoming a technician at the Young Driver Aston Martin Racing Team, competing in the GT1 World Championship. Within 6 months, having demonstrated outstanding mechanical and strategic ability, Steffen was promoted to Chief Mechanic of the #7 Aston Martin DBR9.
He was subsequently given the responsibility of preparing the #13 and #14 Ford GT3 competing in the European Championship.
Overall, his 10+ years of hands-on automotive experience with top teams, brands, and racing classes have inspired Steffen to venture to the business side of automotive sports. Having served as a consultant to several European brands, he now helms Rilli Racing and continues to grow his involvement with the sport through business ventures.
Matt was introduced to the sport of car racing at the age of six, watching his father compete in sports cars at a variety of tracks across Ontario.
At the age of twelve, he took the driver’s seat in karting and was naturally one of the fastest at the track. Matt soon made the transition to open wheel formula cars at 16 attending the Bridgestone racing school and competed for two seasons winning six of twelve of the races he entered. The next stage of Matt’s career would be in the Canadian Formula Ford Championship. Over the years he would accumulate over thirty 1st place finishes, a career podium percentage of over 70% and three Canadian Championship titles.
Matt has also competed in the Porsche GT3 Cup as well as a variety of other sports car races throughout North America which also included an Indy Lights test and completing his Indy license. Matt has an impeccable image and a long history of working with automotive media including a variety of campaigns with Young Drivers of Canada, Transport Canada and various automotive manufacturers.
